Privacy
Your story, your terms.
Mental health information is deeply personal. This policy explains, in plain language, what happens to what you write here. It is maintained by me, the person who runs Be The Reason.
What I collect
- What you choose to post — a story, reason, prayer, song, quote, advice question or reply, plus the display name you pick (which can be “Anonymous”).
- Contact details you send me — only if you write via the contact form or subscribe to the newsletter.
- Basic technical data your browser sends to the host, such as an IP address in server logs, used for security and abuse prevention.
I do not ask for your date of birth, diagnosis, location, or any health record, and I ask you not to post one.
What stays on your device
Anything you save with the bookmark button — stories, songs, quotes, prayers, reasons, advice — is stored in your own browser’s local storage on that device. It never reaches a server, isn’t linked to you, and clearing your browser data deletes it.
Advertising and your information
We will only use anonymous information shared in advertising. We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information, run behavioral ad trackers, or sell profiles to data brokers.
Anonymity
You can post without an account and without your real name. Please don’t include details that could identify you or someone else — full names, employers, schools, hospitals, street addresses, or social handles. Moderation removes identifying detail when it slips through.
Your rights
You can ask me to send you a copy of, correct, or permanently delete anything you posted or sent — including newsletter details — at any time, no reason needed. Write via Contact and I’ll action it within 30 days. Depending on where you live, GDPR or similar laws also give you the right to object, restrict processing, or complain to your data authority.
Retention
Published posts stay up until you ask for removal or moderation takes them down. Contact messages are kept while they’re needed and then deleted. Server logs are short-lived.
Younger visitors
Anyone who agrees to the terms is welcome here. If you’re a young person and struggling, please also reach out to a trusted adult or a youth crisis line — the “Need help now” button lists them.
Third parties
Pages may link to external crisis services, help directories and music links. Those sites have their own policies, and following a link takes you outside my control. Hosting and fonts are provided by third-party infrastructure providers who process only what’s needed to serve the page.
Changes and questions
If this policy changes materially, I’ll say so on this page. Questions? Ask through Contact.
